Amazon Echo Plus

The Echo Plus is the first of Amazon’s smart speakers to come with a built-in smart home hub, allowing it to act as the nerve centre for smart home devices, such as lights, plugs and appliances.

It’s available in black, white and silver, and is available directly from Amazon for £139.99.

Sonos PlayBase

The Sonos PlayBase is a thin, but powerful speaker that is designed to look like a slab of granite. The two-in-one device brings full-cinema sound to your TV and streams music too, so it’s really the only speaker you need in your living room.

The PlayBase available in black and white, and can be purchased directly from Sonos for £699.

MekaMon robot

Described as the “world’s first gaming robot”, the MekaMon robot is a multifunctional, connected battle-bot with augmented reality capabilities controlled by an app on your iPhone or iPad.

It comes in white or black, and is available to purchase in from Apple’s online store, at a price of £299.95.

Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has shaken up the gaming market with its Switch console, which combines the power of a traditional home games console with the convenience and portability of a handheld device.

It comes in a variety of of configurations, and bundled with a choice of games, but the basic console costs £279.99 and is available from the Nintendo Store.

Anki Cozmo

Anki’s Cozmo robot has a mischievous character all of its own. It can move around autonomously, recognise faces, play games, and express a whole range of emotions with its big digital eyes – and thanks to built-in artificial intelligence, its personality evolves the more you play with it.

The standard red and white version is available from Argos for £199.99. There’s also an exclusive Cozmo Liquid Metal Collector’s Edition.
