A new year brings with it lots of new challenges for a business in any industry, so how do you get off to a good start with your IT support?
As it seems to be traditional to offer advice at the beginning of each year, we thought we would stick with tradition and put together a list of what we think are the most important things, when it comes to IT support, to ensure your business can succeed in the year ahead. Whether you do them yourselves or enlist the help of IT support like us, these are 4 simple steps that are well worth doing.
Update your software
As you re-enter the office after a very indulgent Christmas break, the first thing you should do is make sure all of your software is updated. Updates can include important security and bug fixes so it’s important that you do them all year round, but as you make new starts in the new year, make updating your software the priority.
Get your security sorted
Next, we think you should ensure that all your security software is running smoothly. It’s perhaps worth investing in a new security package if your old one if old and ineffective. A computer hack, a destructive virus or security breach can be detrimental to your business, so make sure you set yourself up for a safe year ahead by getting your security in the best shape possible.
Get backed up
Although we know we should do it, we’re probably all guilty of not backing things up. It’s only when you’ve lost everything that you realise you should have been organised and backed up your data sooner. Well use the beginning of the new year to get yourself sorted and back up all your business data in a secure offsite location. Avoid any major disasters by backing up before your start in January.
Stay internet connected
With the cloud and remote business taking such a big step forward in 2015, it is now more important than ever that you have a fast, and secure, internet connection. Why not use the new year as an excuse to shop around and see whether your business connection can be improved or whether there are any pennies to be saved, after all, we are all broke after Christmas!
We can’t predict what the year ahead will bring, and of course we’re on hand to help if there are IT disasters along the way, but if you keep these 4 things in mind as your begin business in 2016, then your year should get off to a good start.
