Queen-long

Queen Elizabeth I demonstrates the rising domination of technology and the computer industry.

The growing reliance on IT and the internet.

The big news in the world of IT and technology this week was that, whilst attending the launch of a major new exhibition at London’s Science Museum, the Queen sent her very first tweet. Many people were there to watch HRH type those 140 characters and the video of her doing so has had thousands of views on Youtube.

The famous royal tweet read “It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R.”

Whilst this may seem trivial and unimportant news, the fact that it was news, and international news at that, shows how the internet and social media has become a dominating force in the modern world. Arguably the most famous woman in Britain tweeting for the first time is headline news.

So what does this mean for IT support?
